Help & guides Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

How long does a print job take?

Most jobs ship within 3 to 7 working days. Some are faster; jobs with extra steps such as foil, die cutting or mailing can take longer. We confirm the delivery date when you place your order and work to fit your schedule.

Do you show customer work?

No. Your files and projects stay private. We don’t use customer work in samples or advertising, and the information you send us is never sold or shared.

How do I send my artwork?

Most designers send files with the file-sharing service they already use; a download link by email is fine. For very large files, ask through the contact form and we’ll set up an upload for you. Before you send, check Preparing PDF files.

What file formats and resolution do you need?

A high-resolution PDF is best. Color images (TIFF or JPEG) should be 300 dpi at the size they print, grayscale 150 dpi, and bitmaps at least 300 dpi. Use CMYK rather than RGB: we can convert RGB, but some colors will shift. Artwork preparation explains why.

Can I use graphics from a website?

Usually not. Web images are about 72 dpi and compressed; print needs 300 dpi, roughly 17 times as many pixels. GIFs hold only 256 colors. Low-resolution images print with jagged edges and get worse when enlarged. If a web image is all you have, use it at its original size or smaller.

What is a bleed?

A bleed means ink prints right to the edge of the paper. To get one, your artwork has to extend past the trim line. Bleeds and safe zones shows how.

My job only needs a fold. Why does it need a score?

Card stock (cover weight) cracks when folded. Scoring it along the fold first gives a clean, consistent fold.

Will I see a proof?

Yes, if you ask for one on your request. We email a PDF proof with buttons to approve it or ask for changes, and nothing prints until you approve.

How do I pay?

We email an invoice to the person who placed the order. It has links to pay online by credit card or PayPal, or you can pay by check. If your terms are prepaid, the job starts when payment arrives.

Why don’t you publish a phone number?

Most of our work happens by email, so every request, proof and approval is in writing and easy to find later. It also keeps sales calls from taking time away from your jobs. Send a request through any product page or the contact form and we’ll reply by email.
