Banner artwork tips
Banners are big, so the artwork needs a little more care. Think about the size, whether you need grommets or pole pockets, and where the banner will hang.
- Don’t use web graphics. Images need at least 150 dpi at the final size. Avoid GIF and BMP files; they don’t hold enough color information.
- Use vector graphics where you can. They resize with no loss of quality, which makes them ideal for large prints.
- Add a bleed. If your art runs to the edge, extend it at least 1/4" past the trim size.
- Work in CMYK. We can convert RGB, but some colors may change.
- Send a high-resolution PDF.
- Keep it simple. A banner should get its message across in a glance or two.
- Mind the finishing. Keep important art out of hems, pole pocket loops and grommet areas. Pole pockets need careful attention to the final size.
- Plan for wind. In windy spots, choose mesh or ask for wind slits.
